FootJoy, Harris Tweed team up again on limited edition heritage shoe release celebrating Open Championship
In honor of this week's Open Championship, FootJoy and Harris Tweed have teamed up to create two limited editions of the classic premiere series models, “Wilcox” and “Field.” Here's what you need to know about the release.
The artisanal tweed is meticulously handmade in the Outer Hebrides isles outside Scotland. This year’s collaboration sees a bright cobalt tweed design blanketing classic white leather-bound shoes, with a hint of old-school glam found in the gold spikes on the outsoles. Equally special is the packaging; each pair comes with a matching tweed collector’s bag, which can be used to store the shoes or double as a carry-all.
The dual release has been dubbed the “Stamp” collection, which nods to the so-called Postage Stamp par-3 eighth at Troon.
To obtain the rich sapphire color as seen on the shoes, brand ambassador for Harris Tweed Hebrides Mark Hogarth described the design process:
“Firstly, I always focus on the color, and at Harris Tweed we are famous for our blending, so there is a mélange of six different yarns colors used in order to get that depth from the different shades of blue. Using these colors alongside a pattern repeat that resembles a postage stamp which is so synonymous with the iconic 8th hole, it has really turned out quite exceptional.”
The limited-edition version of the popular FootJoy Premiere Golf Shoes are available while supplies last and are priced at $260 for the Wilcox and $240 for the Premiere.
