You don’t have to lose a bet like Phil Mickelson to cop these special golf joggers
Asanka Ratnayake
At 54, Phil Mickelson may not be the epitome of fashion. The man has had some … looks over his decades playing professional golf. And yet, by hook or by crook, the golf icon walked up to Royal Troon a day before one of the biggest tournaments of the year wearing joggers.
Yes, it took a bet with Grant Horvat to make this all possible, but sometimes you need a little push to try something new. We don’t blame Mickelson; we’ve been rotating through the same three to five golf shirts for the last few years.
“As an unfashionable 54 year old, I never thought I could pull off wearing joggers. Guess I was wrong 🤷♂️,” Mickelson revealed on Twitter. “Thank you @GrantHorvatGolf we both won 😂😂 #forwellness #hyflyers #primo”
The slimming dark gray pants with a sleek black shirt, Nike kicks and striking spectacles all work together. Perhaps this is the push we all need to try something new on the course. If you have joggers already (good for you!), here are a few new ones with some nice deals that you might need to cop. If you haven’t joggered it up yet, even Mickelson has been hesitant, this might be exactly what you need to fix your look and maybe even your game.
OK, let’s start with Primo, the brand that bet-maker Grant Horvat reps. It looks like Mickelson is following his playing partner’s lead and trying out these pants made for the athletic golfer. Primo hates baggy golf clothes as much as you and I, so they’re a good place to start.

Soothfeel Men's Golf Joggers Pants
82 percent polyester, 18 percent spandex, 100 percent golf. These Soothfeel joggers are another slim look that work in the office as well as on the golf course. They’re stretchy and breathable, but more importantly, they have five pockets. Do you ever get too much stuff in your pockets? A scoreboard, a few tees, a golf ball or three, a marker, maybe a good luck medallion. Well, now you have more room for all of these things. You’ve even got a zippered pocket for your wallet. Make sure you have your card after an ace, so you can buy drinks for everyone in immediate proximity.
G Gradual Men's Golf Joggers Pants
We’re not totally sure why the G Gradual brand has a model without a shirt on for its golf joggers, but these pants have 4-way stretch fabric and more than 15 colorways, so who are we to judge? G Gradual prides itself on its ability to protect you from the sun: “The tight weave construction offers lasting sun protection to help prevent sunburns and long-term skin damage.” It’s hot and sunny as all get out right now and doesn’t seem to be stopping anytime soon. This is a dang good deal!
Puma Golf Men's 101 Evo Pants
Rickie Fowler, Lexi Thompson, Gary Woodland and Kyle Berkshire all wear Puma in one way or another. Shouldn’t you? The 101 Evo Pant is the most versatile of the Puma pants collection with an ultra high-stretch waistband, in case you have an extra few hot dogs at the turn. They have similar shorts, as well, if you’re feeling the heat right now. Maybe snag a pair of pants for autumn. It’s never too early to start thinking about Fall Golf.
adidas Men's Ultimate365 Golf Pants
Adidas is known for its “Impossible Is Nothing” branding. That’s never been more true when it comes to Phil Mickelson wearing joggers at Royal Troon. Anything’s possible. Follow his lead. These pants aren't technically joggers, but have a similar style in the tapered ankle and come in a ridiculous number of colorways. You might not always play well, but you’ll always look good. That’s ultimately more important.
