Michael Kim admits PGA Tour pros were confused by the 71-year-old 'dad' playing in their event

David Skinns had a chance to shoot 59 on Thursday at the Sanderson Farms Championship, but it was a 76 that had more people talking at the PGA Tour fall season event. That's because it came from a 71-year-old.
That's right, a 71-year-old named Reed Hughes is teeing it up with the youngsters at the Country Club of Jackson this week after winning the 2023 Gulf States Section championship to earn a spot in a PGA Tour event for the eighth time in his career, and for the first time since 2007. And through 10 holes of his opening round, Hughes was cruising along at one under par.
So if you saw him hitting a golf ball, you could tell he has some serious game. But if you saw him somewhere else, you might think he was in the wrong place. Such was the case for Michael Kim, who admitted that he and other tour pros were confused by Hughes' presence when they saw him in the physio trailer.
Amazing. After his round, Hughes had an admission of his own:
"It's hard for me because I'm used to riding in a cart and playing in about three hours," he said.
In other words, Kim and others can probably expect to see Hughes spending more time in the physio trailer. And if the guy wants to help himself to an extra order of tapioca pudding in player dining after, let him go crazy. He's earned it.
