As an avid golfer and a dog parent to my own pup, Birdie, I always feel a little guilty every time I'm getting ready for a round. The minute I take my sticks out, her little face drops—and she gives me a look I’m used to seeing when she’s gotten into the trash. She knows when my clubs are by the door, I’ll be gone for most of the day, and I can’t help but wish that I could bring her with me. Which got me thinking, are there golf courses where you can bring your dog?

I know that most courses allow service animals and that some private clubs will turn a blind eye for members they like, but what about true, dog-friendly golf courses? Do they exist, I wondered.

The answer is yes, and in my hunt for the best dog-friendly golf courses in the country, I discovered there are more than you might think. Below are some of the best golf courses in America to play a round with your four-legged bestie.

Did we miss a course that's dog-friendly? Head to that course's page and leave a comment—telling us about your experience walking the fairways with your doggo!
